  • On video: Mercedes’ top secret supercars

    Oct 31, 2007 10:55 PM

It’s a highly confusing state of affairs, but according to Autocar’s sources, Mercedes-Benz will release two new 700bhp-plus supercars over the next five years – and both will be called SLC.
As we understand it the firm is working on two separate projects, one a hardcore version of the new SL for 2009, the other an AMG-developed replacement for the Mercedes SLR McLaren headed for the road two years later. No doubt the Autocar office can't wait to get it's hands on these anachronisms to prove how good tey are as journo's - they may even be a small aside on the car too. To all concerned - just admit it's car porn!!

Seriously though - what's the point of these cars? They'll be limited to 155mph anyway with very few places that they can be driven safely and legally.

    Surely 250BHP is therefore enough.........

Have I told you about my Picasso.......................................................................................................................................................

I dont' understand the point of this self governed speed limit the German manufacturers seem to abide by. Where has it come from and why?

These cars are built primarily for the German market, where performance/speed can be enjoyed on some of the autobahn's. Other than that they seem to be a waste of time for the rest of Europe.

Caeser ruled with an iron hand, then with a wooden foot and finally with a piece of string.
