    The Renault 4L belongs in the class of cars that exist just to meet the simple needs of many millions of motorists.     Brilliant little car!

    Reliable, cheap to run, went almost anywhere, you could hammer dings out yourself and the more battered it looked the better it was!

    My Uncle had one just like the one described for about 10 years and one chioldhod memory is my 3 cousins and myself piling into the back without the rear seat - no child seats in those days - and going down to the seaside. These days you'd be branded irrisponsible if you did the same thing!

    I even saw one in Iceland, going along roads where 4x4s were struggling!

     Hey Renault, how about bringing out a retro R4?
