  • London show: Fiesta prices

    Jul 22, 2008 11:48 AM

Ford has used its London motor show conference to confirm pricing for the new Fiesta.
The entry-level Fiesta, which features a 1.25-litre engine producing 58bhp, will cost from £8695; that will pitch Ford's baby slightly above the Vauxhall Corsa, whose most basic variants start at under £8k.
Ford will use a 'plateau' on the pricing of its premium Fiestas; the Zetec S (sporty), Titanium (luxury) and Econetic (green) variants will all cost from £12,000. The firm is making some big claims for...Read the full article

Nice to see the basic fiesta, rather than the sporty ones. Looks like a solid car. Prices seem on the expensive side, but maybe thats because the Ka will fill the gap when it arrives. And probably to make people think the discount they are getting is better

Is there a new, small, Ford petrol engine due out anytime? The 1.25 has been around for a long time and seems to lose power with every incarnation to meet emissions testing.

If Ford can create a cracking 1.2-1.4, free revving, highish power petrol engine in the spirit of the original lumps yamaha had a hand in designing they'd be onto a winner.

That and the 1.4 diesel found in the toyota yaris and auris - with a high output and low weight they'd be onto something, though obviously the current 1.6 is a good engine.

I think it looks a bit bloated from the front and rather plain from the side with the plastic trims.

It'll sell in droves no doubt.

I like the way Autocar say it is a touch more expensive than the Corsa. Give me £700 if you think nothing of it.

In saying that, who pays list on a Ford?
