There have been three different incarnations of the Suzuki Swift over the past 20 years. Three million have been sold worldwide, although only 58,000 have found homes in the UK. The new Swift marks the start of a line-up of new models that Suzuki hopes will improve the fortunes of its four-wheeled products, which currently play second fiddle to the firm’s motorbikes. In October the new Grand Vitara arrives, while a smaller 4x4 will follow next year.

If this was the first version you ever new of the Swift, you would have trouble coming to terms with the two previous versions. I think it really is a funky, well proportioned good looking little car both inside and out.

Surely this car is set to redress the balance when compared to what has gone before and against the current crop of super minis.
