  • Hyundai-Kia team-up with Microsoft

    Hyundai-Kia and Microsoft have today announced a long-term partnership to develop the next-generation of in-car infotainment systems.
    The first product from this alliance will be a device that provides voice-controlled connectivity with mobile phones. It’ll be introduced in North America in 2010.
    There’ll also be new-age multimedia and navigation devices within two years. The next generation of in-car entertainment systems will be comparable to ‘mini-PCs’, a statement said.

    I absolutely hate all this stuff. Hyundai and Kia cars are so unutterably dull that they have to install mini-pcs to generate interest!

    Will they have flip down keyboards like the chavs install in Puntos/Novas/Saxos around the country?

    Call me a luddite, if you will, but I can still find enough enjoyment in driving to live without all this rubbish in my car. In fact my 205gti still has wind up windows, and I love it! 

     

    Art as expression, not as market campaigns.
    Will still capture our imagination.
