  • Mercedes the Gadget Cars!

    May 02, 2008 11:37 AM

Mercedes has gained a reputation in my eyes for having lots of gadgets and little buttons in their cars. Well at least the upmarket cars do.

now I don't know about you but in my eyes this is the thing that makes Mercedes good. With all these buttons you can spend quite some time just fiddling around with them all. The S class for example has more than any other car by the looks of things. It has a phone in it for cry sake. Seats that massage you and just about every luxury you could ever want. Missile launching exhausts and a wine store all included.

With that in my mind it still startles me that there are some who would have you believe that Mercs arn't the best for travelling down the M5 at 70mph. Mercs have always that quality in terms of ride comfort that they are just perfect for doing so although that is a bit of the point.

In the end it comes to a time to wrap this post up in a hurry. I would say that the buttons on the interior and everything else that Merc do to there interiors makes them one of the top 3 for nicest interiors across the range of models that they produce. I have always thought that Mercs are absoloutely wonderful things to sit in even if you are not moving.

    And that's that!

I'm not too sure i agree entirely with your article. Yes Merc have bucketloads of gadgets. Some of them are even pointless, but a butonfest they're not anymore. The old S Classes and E Classes had loads of buttons but with this Comman system ( Merc's version of the i-drive), there's not longer the need for buttons. you can still have fun fiddling with the command system but the interiors are less fussy and a bit more clean these days. The new C Class for eg is not a button fest. there are buttons for the usual suspects ie, lights, hazard, audio controls but most of the fiddling goes throught the Command system.
