It’s rare that you get to sample a car before it’s been named, but Hyundai gave us the honour recently when we drove its new eight-seat MPV.
The i50 moniker originally intended for the van-based MPV has now been reserved for the new Genesis saloon, suggesting that the big executive model will definitely come to the UK.
Hyundai’s people-carrier won’t stay anonymous for long; the firm has promised that it will announce a name by 9am tomorrow. Keep watching autocar.co.uk for more news on th...Read the full article

I suspect it will carry the name it debuted with at the Seoul motor show about this time last year. The Hyundai H1??

It is called the Hyundai H1 in Hyundai's international website:
    http://worldwide.hyundai-motor.com/common/html/showroom/recreational/h_1/focus.html

But in Singapore (and possibly most Asian countries), it's called the H1 Starex. But, given Hyundai's naming strategy in the UK, I doubt it will have this wacky name in the UK.

The term Starex refers to Hyundai's name for its rebadged Mitsubishi L400/Delica predecessor. Hyundai will probably want to sever ties with its old image in Europe, whereas reminding customers of ties to a trusted brand like Mitsubishi will probably help overcome prejudice in the Asian market.

I wonder how Hummer would feel about the H1 name? I know they don't actually make an H1, but it's still dodgy ground.

Personally I think the existing name sums it up very well, the "Hyundai Anonymous"

Close, but what about iVaneo, looks very much like the Merc Vaneo.

Caeser ruled with an iron hand, then with a wooden foot and finally with a piece of string.
