Autocar:Bentley will reduce emissions across its entire range to just 120g/km of C02 by 2012, it announced today. The company will achieve this target by creating lighter cars and introducing improved transmissions and enhanced engine management and on both the V8 and V12 units.
Boy oh boy! Talk about lost in translation! What you have said is not correct. I've just read a German web site's report of Paefgen's Geneva announcement for clarification. As follows:
The 120g CO2/km figure is for "well-to-wheel", not consumption. Hence the incomprehension of the commentors so far.
Further, what Paefgen actually announced was:
intention to reduce average consumption by 15% by 2012;
all engines to be 'Flexi-Fuel' by 2012;
introduction of a new powertrain, which will permit reduction in consumption of 40% by 2012 - not stated but expected to be a hybrid powerplant;
by use of E85 biofuel will the emission level be reduced to under 120g CO2/km as measured by the so-called "well-to-wheel" method. This measure-cycle considers all steps in the production of the fuelstuff through to consumption.

I have to add that the journalist's post here was not researched through.
