These are the first pictures of the Evo X hatchback.
Still classed as a concept, and due to be revealed at the Geneva show next week, the five-door Prototype-S will be almost identical to the production car, which will officially be called the 'Evo X Sportback'.
Aimed squarely at the Impreza WRX, the Sportback will be based on the same architecture as the saloon, and use a 237bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and permanent four-wheel drive.

    noooooo.... this is so wrong....

but at least there is the option of having the traditional saloon, whereas there isn't the choice with the Scooby.

Put the new Impreza and Evo Sportback side-by-side and they certainly look similar. Be interesting to see which one wins a group test. The saloon still looks better but the hatchback is not too bad. Not great but have seen worse...

I think we all wish we were the Stig.

Onto the EVO Hatch, love it. Still has the aggression at the front with the practical bit at the back, not too clever in side profile, but hey, if you are a family man that still hankers after a sporty drive, why not. Subaru have sold thousands of their previous generation sportback type model.

true - i did like the scooby sportback in a quirky kind of way, but isn't there a big difference between a hot hatch and a sports estate?

thinking about it, the traditional hot hatch stomping ground has been challenged lately with these mega-power sports estates.  personally, a sports estate says that I am an active bloke with lots of hobbies and a family thus requiring a practical car.  a hot hatch say that I am harking back to my teenage years... imho :)
