After the Mk IV, all they had to do was make the Golf fun to drive and it would be a winner. They’ve done it; and now it is. Largely faultless VW masterclass: brilliant handling; great interior design. Best GTi in 20 years. Only duff points are some rogue cheap materials inside and the price.
