When Porsche said it was going to build an off-roader, traditional fans of the marque were outraged. Since then the Cayenne has sold in huge numbers, especially in the States, allowing Stuttgart's favourite car maker to expand and develop cars like the Cayman and the forthcoming Panamera. Massively fast in Turbo guise, and also massively ostentatious, the Cayenne is nevertheless an appealing alternative to a Range Rover that's probably better off road than you'd expect.
