Now in its second generation, the Mercedes A-class has got a little bit bigger, a little bit more luxurious inside, a fair bit better to drive and even more desirable than ever. And gone, too, are the doubts over its ride and handling: the latest A wouldn't end up on its roof even if an army of elks tried to push it over. Prices, as a result, have continued to go north but, now that the Audi A2 has been discontinued, you pay for what you get with the most aspirational small car on sale.
