Toyota's Mini-rivalling iQ will be seen as a final production car much earlier than expected. It will be shown at the Geneva motor show in March 2008 and go on sale at the end of that year.

However rumours that it will be powered by a Yamaha motorbike engine could well be unfounded, according to senior Toyota sources. But one Toyota honcho did point out that as Toyota owns part of Yamaha, the bike engine specialists often get involved with Toyota's engine development.

Meanwhile the Lexus LF-A V10 supercar looks like being delayed even further. There are now no plans for it until 2011, an insider revealed.
