GM has confirmed pricing for the 638bhp Corvette ZR-1, which will cost a cool £109,000 when it goes on sale in the UK next month.
It will certainly be a rare sight in the UK, with the company planning to register just two examples over here in 2008 followed by ‘single-digit volumes’ in 2009.
The announcement means that the ZR-1 is nearly £47,000 dearer than the £62,100 Z06. Corvette would argue that, seen against similar 600bhp supercars like the Ferrari 599 (£197,425) and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 (£217,375) the ZR-1 could seem like something of a bargain.
British ZR-1s will be left-hand drive only, and the current dollar exchange rate means that potential buyers might be tempted to skip the warranty and bring one in direct from the ‘States – the same car is selling for $103,300 (£56,000 excluding taxes) in the US.
