Renault looks set to adopt keen pricing for its first SUV, the Koleos. The French firm’s Korean-built model will start at a competitive £17,995 for the base Dynamique 4x2 dCi 150, rising to £24,695 for the range-topping Privilege 4x4 dCi 175.

The 2.0-litre diesel engine, available in 148bhp or 173bhp tune, is the only motor in the Koleos range. From there you must choose whether to have your Koleos in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive form, and which of the three trim levels to have.

Dynamique trim includes air-con, cruise control, roof bars and 17-inch wheels, while Dynamique S starts at £19,495 and gets keyless entry, parking sensors and reclining rear-seat backrests, plus the option of a six-speed automatic gearbox on the 4x4 model.

The top-spec Privilege models start at £23,495 and are only available in four-wheel drive. Their spec list includes the option of an auto ’box, full leather heated seats, a panoramic electric sunroof, bi-xenon headlights and sat-nav.

The Koleos comes with a 100,000-mile, three-year warranty and goes on sale on 4 July this year.
