Nissan GT-R not tough enough for you? Try the V-Spec edition, seen here testing at the Nurburgring today. It beefs up the already highly potent GT-R with an extra 60bhp, boosting power to around 530bhp.
The car is said to use carbonfibre body panels to cut weight by as much as 150kg, according to rumours. That could cut the car's kerbweight to under 1600kg.
Behind the new six-spoke wheels are new, uprated Brembo brakes. Two small vents in the front splitter probably provide extra cooling, helping air flow through the wheel and out of the vent in the rear of the wheelarch.
It's also likely Nissan has retuned the GT-R's four-wheel drive system. The changes are unlikely to significantly better the car's immense performance; improving acceleration on a car that gets to 60mph in 3.5sec is hard work, but 0.1-0.2sec could be shaved off that figure. More importantly, the V-spec should be lighter, more responsive and even more able to humble Porsche 911 Turbos.
The V-Spec badge was not picked at random, it first appeared on the 1993 Skyline GT-R, when it was chosen as a reference to the Skyline's success in group N and group A racing series. The 'V' stands for victory.
The car is due to go on sale in 2010, although it may not reach the UK until the following year we're only getting the standard GT-R next year.
