Audi has announced pricing for its new A3 cabriolet, with the first UK deliveries scheduled for May.

Unusually for a cabrio, the range starts with a diesel model, the 107 bhp 1.9-litre TDI which costs £20,750. At the other end of the line-up sits the 2.0-litre TFSI version, which carries a £23,660 sticker. Between them sit a 138 bhp 2.0-litre TDI version (£22,760) and a 1.8-litre TFSI petrol (£22,300).

Three trim levels are available: Standard, Sport and S-Line. Base spec includes 16-inch alloys, aircon and a semi-automatic hood. Sport adds £1850 and brings 17-inch alloys, sports suspension, huggy seats and a fully automatic hood. The bells-and-whistle S-Line costs £3400 more than the base, including 18-inch twin spoke alloys, a bodykit and a leather interior.

Prices are very competitive against the BMW 1-Series cabrio, which starts at £24,055 with a 2.0-litre engine.
