Lexus has unveiled a convertible version of the 500bhp, 5.0-litre V10 LF-A coupé concept, seen at the Detroit show 2007.

There has been no confirmation of when the production ready LF-A coupé might arrive, with some Lexus insiders claiming that it won't be here until 2011 due to concerns regarding fuel consumption and emissions.

Others believe there has been little news because the car is being finalised and will be in production much sooner.

The newly unveiled LF-A roadster suggests the latter may be closer to the truth. The drop-top concept not only showcases a possible new model, but also a facelifted front end that may hint at the final design for the production LF-A coupé.

We can only hope the production LF-A looks as good as this latest evolution of the concept when it does finally hit the showrooms.
