Citroen’s refreshing its largest MPV, the C8, for the New Year with cosmetic changes, improved cabin quality and a new engine.

The new motor in question is a 2.2-litre HDi diesel, available in high-end SX and Exclusive trim only, and delivers 173bhp and 295lb ft torque. Despite offering hefty mid-range shove, and dismissing 0-60mph in 11.7 seconds, Citroen claims the 2.2 will also return 42.8mpg.

Outside, the front and rear chevrons have been restyled to bring the C8 in line with the rest of the Citroen range. There’s also a new front grille, more chrome and 16in alloy wheels.

Quality has been enhanced inside with more soft-touch materials for a premium feel, and there’s now an auxiliary MP3 plug-in too. The updated model will be available from February.
