Road Test

Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI PD 130 Classic

Test Date 20 April 2006  Price When New £15,400

Verdict

 7 stars out of 10

If you want a lot of car for not a lot of money, the Superb’s worth a shot. It’s frugal, is unlikely to go wrong and your rear seat passengers will thank you every time they climb aboard. But if you want anything more from your motoring, such as a car that’s even reasonably good fun to drive, or a modern standard of ride quality, it shouldn’t even be on your shopping list. The Superb felt old before its time even when it was new and these days it’s fallen far from the pace. A nice idea but, in reality, not one that has stood the test of time.
