Road Test

Chrysler Viper (93-01) 8.0 V10 Targa 2dr

Test Date 28 April 1993  Price When New £55,000

Verdict

 7 stars out of 10

Other cars with similar performance would prove a sight more refined and practical on a long run. But that is exactly the Viper’s point. It does not allow itself to be compromised by practical considerations and if that means you drive it less than you might otherwise, it also means that, when you do, you know the route to driving pleasure could not be more direct.
The Viper may be difficult and intimidating, but you will never look at American cars the same way again. In fact, it’s unlikely any car will seem the same again.
