Road Test

Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI PD 130 Classic

Test date 20 April 2006  Price as tested £15,400

There are many ways of assessing whether a car provides good value or not, but by far the simplest is the metal-for-your-money measure. And in this contest, if in no other, the Skoda Superb proves hard to beat. In this 2.0-litre diesel form you get a car that’s longer than a Porsche Cayenne and will seat five with limousine levels of interior room. Yet this Classic spec will set you back just £15,990, or less than the cheapest 2.0-litre diesel Ford Focus. And that’s before you start haggling. Negotiate properly and you’ll get it for at least a grand less, even than this.
